The average annual gas consumption of households in the United Kingdom is approximately 1,500 m3. About 75% of this is used for heating the house and for heating water, such as for bath and showers. This amounts to a cost of approximately GBP 700,- per year.
Not everyone realizes that a central heating boiler also consumes electricity. A central heating boiler is one of the largest power consumers in the house. For example, a central heating boiler from before 2005 consumes approximately 500 kWh of electricity annually, which is about GBP 90 (price level 2016). This is more than the consumption of a tumble dryer or washing machine. A modern HR ++ combi boiler can also consume a lot of electricity.
The total energy consumption of a central heating boiler is determined mainly by the type of home, the degree of insulation and the number of residents. But on average, the costs of keeping a house warm and with sufficient hot water could be as high as GBP 750,- per year!
Fortunately, numerous measures can are available to reduce the energy consumption of a central heating boiler and to save considerable money on the energy bill.
An increasingly often chosen solution is to install a Flamco XStream Air and Dirt Separator.
Air in a central heating system is a significant problem. The air in an installation causes annoying noises such as buzzing, tapping and bubbling. Also, the oxygen present reacts with steel parts in the heating system. The result of this is corrosion and the build-up of harmful magnetite. The most critical risk and consequence of air in a heating system, however, is an inefficient system, which results in high energy consumption. Ultimately, the air acts as an insulator and blocks heat transfer, which means that the building cannot be heated efficiently.
A Flamco XStream Air Separator ensures that your central heating system is automatically and regularly bled, which guarantees that your heating system works optimally.
Dirt in a central heating system is also undesirable. Dirt can settle in expensive heating components such as pumps, heat exchangers, three-way valves, (underfloor heating) pipes, radiators and heat meters. The net result is the increased risk of malfunctions, maintenance and repair costs, which reduces the lifespan of the total system. Components such as pumps will be put under significantly greater system loads and possibly be expected to operate beyond the system design and not be able to deliver the necessary heat load. Finally, just like air, dirt particles reduce energy transfer which negatively impacts heat transfer.
A Flamco XStream Dirt Separator removes dirt particles from the system water. It significantly reduces the risk of malfunctions of the boiler and ensures optimal efficiency and lower energy costs.
With the installation of a Flamco XStream Air and Dirt Separator, it is possible to save up to 15% on your energy bill without any loss of performance! Therefore, choose to install a Flamco XStream Air and dirt separator on your central heating system!
How does an air and dirt separator work?Flamco has been involved in the development, production and sale of high-quality components for use in HVAC systems since 1956. It is part of the stocklisted Aalberts NV, instituted in 1975. Along with Comap, which helps manage water and energy through its thermal and sanitary products that increase comfort in buildings, the Aalberts hydronic flow control business unit was constituted. Stronger together, Flamco and Comap will continue to build mission critical technologies to manage heating and cooling humanly with better financial and environmental efficacy. From source to emitter we partner with our customers to engineer seamless energy efficient hydronic systems for their building requirements.
